Extractions
When restoration procedures such as root canal therapy, crowns or fillings aren’t enough to save a tooth, our dentists may need to remove/extract it.
Typically, extractions are a method of last resort. Only in the most extreme cases, such as when roots are damaged beyond repair, will we extract a tooth. Removing the tooth may then lead to a restorative dentistry procedure, such as dentures or implants.
Our dentist specializes on tooth extraction. If you’re experiencing intense pain from a tooth, it’s important that you call our dental office to assess your situation as soon as possible.
Thankfully, tooth extractions today are far less painful than they used to be. In fact, with the help of anesthetics and sedatives, it’s likely that you will feel very little discomfort or pain.
Once the procedure is complete, simple precautions can help to minimize infections such as avoiding smoking, vigorous brushing and drinking liquids through straws.
Wisdom Teeth Removal
Wisdom teeth removal is a common form of extraction. Many of our patients experience problems with their wisdom teeth, which are the third set of molars found in the rear corners of the mouth.
A typical scenario requiring wisdom teeth removal is a tooth growing too close to existing permanent teeth. This causes crowding, misalignment, improper bites, and other problems. If you experience strong discomfort, inflammation, or an infection, you may need to have our dentist look at it.
Without treatment, wisdom teeth can become impacted. This causes extreme pain and can harm your oral health.
